Kinston- In Loving Memory of Craig Conley Craig Conley passed away suddenly on Friday, December 19, 2025. To the world, Craig was a man of grit and resilience—a "tough guy" who lived life on his own terms. But to those who truly knew him, he was a brilliant storyteller, a loyal protector, and a man with a wit as sharp as a carnival blade. Above all else, Craig was a man who deeply loved his family. His devotion to his mother, Virginia, was a cornerstone of his life. After many years on the road, Craig made the choice to move back home specifically to care for her, ensuring she was looked after and okay as she got older. He was also a proud father to his daughter, Brooklyn, whom he cherished deeply. Craig came from a large, tight-knit family and shared a special, close bond with his many cousins. Craig was a lifelong hustler and a master of his craft. He was incredibly persistent and persuasive—a go-getter who always found a way to make things happen. He was also remarkably ingenious; he had a rare talent for figuring things out and making things work that seemed beyond repair. He started working the carnival lots on the East Coast when he was just a young boy, learning the ropes early in life. He eventually took that drive out West, where he spent many years as a hardcore hustler. On the road, Craig was known as a fearless brawler who never backed down from a confrontation. He took pride in his strength and his ability to handle himself, often sharing stories of the battles he won and the respect he earned with his fists. When he returned home to be with his mother, Craig embraced a more intentional, slower pace of life. He stepped away from the chase for money and the fights of the past to focus on the people who mattered most. Though he remained the same fun-loving guy, he found a new kind of peace in his later years just being present with his loved ones. Outside of his family and his work, Craig had a true passion for cars and music. He was known for his affinity for rap music and his love for deep bass. You always knew when Craig was arriving; he took pride in his ride, especially those sub-woofer speakers that let the whole neighborhood feel the beat. He even expressed himself through his own raps, moving through life under the name that defined his entire personality: "Keep It Real." He knew the weight of deep loss from a young age, having lost his brother, Daryl. That shared experience created a lifelong, decades-long bond of brotherhood with his closest friend, Brion. Having lost his own brother, Travis, Brion found in Craig a true brother who understood him better than anyone else. They navigated life’s highs and lows together for many years, anchored by a history that didn't need words. Craig was preceded in death by his brother, Daryl. He leaves behind his beloved mother Virginia and her husband Greg, his daughter Brooklyn, his many cherished cousins, his brother-at-heart Brion, and a legacy of stories and laughter. Craig lived his life with no apologies and no fakes. If he had one final message for the world, it would be: "Keep It Real." Memorial January 31. Location and time to be determined.
